VICTORIA - The largest skeleton of a blue whale ever reconstructed in Canada, is in it's final resting place.
After almost two years of intensive work by a team of Victoria scientists and volunteers, the 25 metre mammal was moved to Vancouver today, to go on display at the UBC Beaty Biodiversity Museum.
The whale originally washed up on the shores of Prince Edward Island in 1987, after it was hit by a ship and died. It was buried for preservation until it was unearthed two years ago, and shipped to Victoria to be rebuilt.
The skeleton will be on display for the public after it's put back together in about a month.
