UC Berkeley Protest Senate Bill 185 27 September 2011

Based on the Increased Diversity Bake Sale via the CA State Senate Bill 185 regarding Affirmative Action in California Universities.

I didn't even know it was happening til I saw it before my class. Originally, it was just the Berkeley Republicans with the bake sale, but then other things started progressing. It was so weird to see so many people there!!

For the end protest. everyone in the crowd first stood holding hands and facing Sproul, not speaking. It was kinda scary....an hour later (after my class), I came out and saw this. Kinda cool :]

First Berkeley protest! :] I need to read the Daily Cal more often....then I would've known what was going on :b hahahaha laziness, laziness. Still, it's cool seeing ppl for SB 185, ppl against it, ppl giving free hugs, ppl selling desserts, ppl giving away free desserts, ppl saying Hogwarts needs more diversity, and ppl who are just people watching. hahahaha gotta love Cal :D oh, then on the way to class I hear two ppl arguing about creationism vs evolution. classic! :D

@Veritatis61 it is likely to help admit more white men, and this wouldnt bother proponents of the measure in general, but i imagine, whoever is actually anti-white would not like it.

@Lady0Pamela aa doesnt influence scholarships; those are separate things. and people are free to offer scholarships to white males--its happened before. and a lot of people dont know that you can apply for scholarships aimed at certain groups even if youre not of the target race. i dont know where to find the specific numbers/studies used to guide aa policies, but there are many studies on discrimination out there which are not necessarily used for that, but are interesting reads nonetheless.
