  • I am sorry to report that the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has closed this project down! At the present time Mary Jo White the local State Senator is trying to have the secretary of the D.E.P. look into the situation. As of today Feb.6th 2008 the facility is pluged and sealed and may never operate again. Very Sad!

  • This video shows that Micro-Hydro does work and can provide power to light and heat your home. This plant has provided 72 megawatts of renewable energy to the grid in Western Pa.

  • I may have asked you before, but is that an induction motor being used as a generator. Also, what is the xfmr for hanging on the wall? What was the head and flow? Is that a Kaplan type turbine? How long and what size is the penstock...plastic or metal? How is the grid tie executed?

Last, but not least...what is your occupation that you are able to afford those big valves and piping?

We spoke before on here, but I didn't ask these questions. Again, beautiful work.

  • How did the D.E.P find out about your system? Were you net-metering with the local utility?...Allegheny Power? I'm in western Maryland...where in PA are you? What was your head and flow? I suspect you had to dam a stream, I think in Maryland you can dam a stream provided: 1)it is not navigable by boat 2)it does not contain at any time migratory fish 3)dam height does not exceed 10' 4) no more than 10 acre-feet are flooded 5)you own both sides of stream flooded land. What are PA.'s rules?

  • The water comes from a small stream that flows through his yard.

  • cool stuff

too bad you got shut down

  • Where was the water coming from?
