furthermore, i'd say to use the electricity generated from the exhaust heat to power some TEC's for climate control. benefits are a/c without engine running (drain battery though) and fast warmups in the winter.

i'd say this is pretty weak for BMW standards...
i saw an article where some guy put a whole whackload of junctions on the exhaust of a mac truck and generated about 1kw.

ahhhahaa BMW trying to use rankine cycle with expander and now I see seebeck effect for direct heat to electric conversions. remember that it exist much better materials especially based on uranium which has enormous potential as a high temperature beta-voltaic cells.
