  • Steve Allen, Louie Nye, Tom Posten, Gabe Dell...man, those were the days. Anyone who thinks David Letterman has anything new to offer never saw the old Steve Allen show. (To those who know, the holes are probably still in the ceiling.)

  • David Letterman USED to be the new Steve Allen when he was on NBC. He just didn't have enough talent or class to sustain that label.

  • @JohnLeeJohnLee

Well put & well said! I recently read a book about the original "Tonight" show with Steve Allen & he and his team originated almost all the comedy bits later used by Carson, Leno, Letterman, etc. What a titan of talent!

  • @ghostgirlstv I agrre with you. Can you imagine if Bill Dana did this today or several years ago? In our politically correct country the Mexicans would be protesting to have him fired!!

  • @63utuber I wondered the same thing. Four or five videos

were one show........Jonathan Winters is part one Phil Harris

is part five..........if you research the guy who put these on you tube you

    will find all parts.

  • Wow! So subverse for the time - overt gay references!!

  • "part two:" of what?

  • @JohnLeeJohnLee you are correct, but as steve allen himself said about david letterman, "to his great credit, he gives good credit." david letterman never tried to hide his sources and spoke very respedtfully of them.

  • the mexican is bill dana!

  • Nye was a combination of Jonathan Winters and Gore Vidal.

  • How can ANY ANY ANYONE compare to this GREAT comedy today! Truly brilliant!!

  • the bartender is pat harrington jr.
