Well put & well said! I recently read a book about the original "Tonight" show with Steve Allen & he and his team originated almost all the comedy bits later used by Carson, Leno, Letterman, etc. What a titan of talent!

@JohnLeeJohnLee you are correct, but as steve allen himself said about david letterman, "to his great credit, he gives good credit." david letterman never tried to hide his sources and spoke very respedtfully of them.

David Letterman USED to be the new Steve Allen when he was on NBC. He just didn't have enough talent or class to sustain that label.
