you do realise that a340-500 and 777-300ER have good range cheap to maintain and can carry 500 passengers depending on configuration. and the a340 can carry between 400-500

why emirates have 777-300er if they have a340-500, can be strategy of the airline?, because if a airline have 777-300er, why they need a a340-500?

My best guess would be range or possibly the ETOPS regulations. Both flights which I have taken on the A340-500 have been direct from Dubai across the Indian Ocean to Sydney or to Melbourne and then on to Auckland. The Emirates aircraft scheduled to fly to Auckland via Australia will be changed early next year and will be operated by an Airbus 380 via Sydney an A340 via Melbourne and an A340 via Brisbane replacing two 777 services which currently operate to Auckland.
