You should be proud...Iceland has done a good job exploiting an energy source that is readily availabe. Just one thing though...the largest geothermal steam energy producer resides in the USA...at the Geysers in California. Alot of people don't know that, but it's been used for decades. Google it...interesting stuff. Iceland has such a low Kw demand that the geo provides a great percentage of their power. In the US...that power contribution would be like spit in the ocean.

Very true, Iceland is not only geothermal but they use a verity of different energy sources and are proud to say they will be self sufficient and non reliant on oil within 20 years I believe the government said.

The US government needs oil consumption in order to allow the Arab states to continue funding the national debt. Without their money, our government wouldn't be able to sell as many treasury bonds, and would either have to raise taxes, or cuts services. So the moral of this story is forget the alternate energy schemes, buy a big SUV, and rip out the speedometer. It's the patriotic thing to do.
