@SteU4IA Exactly. you didn't think that the jerk movement was about pure arm strength did you? A perfect jerk involves the lifter getting under the bar quickly enough to where very little arm drive is needed to come to full extension with the bar.

Lifters have the option of of jerking the bar however they want. The split jerk is perhaps more common than the squat jerk because it allows lifters to have a larger base of support. In the squat jerk, a small mistake may usually lead to a miss. In general, the lifter chooses whatever method they are more comfortable with. The squat jerk definitely looks quite interesting in action!
