"2. Children are fundamentally different and expect to be a "star" overnight."
And there are a lot of parents who aren't dedicated enough to get the kids to practice EVERY time and who also don't see a problem with scheduling vacation or other trips on competition Saturdays even if they know in advance. They don't realize how bad a marching "hole" looks while they are out of town or how much that hurts the rest of the group. And then they are the very first to complain about other parents...

hey just wanted to pointed out that if this wasnt during football season then the band would probaly be smaller. This band probaly is 180 during football season then shrinks like all band by the end of the year.

Chris didn't we have like 180 playing members. There only 108 here plus 17 percussion. I wish I could find the video from Charleston where I lost my pants and Mrs. J tried to pull them up. Good times. Shep

Definitely wasn't '84. I started in '84 also. We had 8 sousaphones, not 4. We also didn't play "Indian Fire". I remember the video well since the J's also used that as a recruiting video.

Any video anyone has lying around would be super whether it's last decade or anytime before. We'll take it! And if you just have the VHS tape, I'll transfer it for you free so we can post it here and share more Big Red Band!

I would post any I could get my hands on, but nobody seems to have any. At the time, nobody thought to keep them.
