The formula may be too simple, and appears not to account for leap years.
(C+Y+Y/4+D+SV)/7
e.g. for 1st Jan 2008 ( a leap year) this gives:
(6+8+8/4+1+0)/7=17/7--> 2 times with remainder 3 --->Wednesday
but 1st Jan 2008 was a Tuesday!
The formula I had derived uses Saturday as 0 and 2000-2099 as 0, but you still need to subtract 1 if the date is in a Jan or Feb of a leap year.
Excellent tutorial with great explanations of the process, but misses this caveat.
