  • Nicholas Kynaston is one of the great old school British organists

  • @TheCinemasound - I bought Kynaston's double discs a long time ago, I have always admired his skill :-) There are some great tracks on it...

  • @ProfRikk I agree with your comment there on both counts,Nicholas is a friend of a professional organist friend of mine and he allways speaks very highly of him

  • regardless of interpretation, main thing with this piece is to TREAT it like a true dialogue. Should be two very distinct ensembles to contrast with each other. FF vs mf in volume is one, another is keep the same 'power level' but reeds vs plenum, it is up to the organist and his/her interpretation. Again, it the contrast of ensembles that is the key to bringing this piece to life. This organist indeed did a great job, BRAVO!!!

  • Nicolas is fantastic!

    Great organist, great person! :-)

  • I know it is easy to become wedded to the first recording one buys,(familiarity of tempo, registration etc) but this was my first purchased recording of these works and the Gigout remains for me, despite the many other excellent recordings, the the very best - Great composition, great organ and great organist....it doesn't get any better than that for me! Thanks for posting.

  • Two of my favourite pieces played back to back on the amazing Willis by the wonderful Kynaston. Mind blowingly Beautiful what more can I say

  • Perfect registration

  • @organman52 You are correct. However, this is an "interpretation" at the hands of the organist.

  • A fellow of the RCO, heard him 20 years in Dublin, was technically/muscially suberb reminds me of D. Chorzempa in style. This fine recoding dates form the 70's.
