Located off Smith road in Shirley at the mouth of the Carmans River is the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge. Unfortunately the southeastern and western portions of the preserve are closed off (for what reason I dont know) but the 3 mile White Oak Nature trail takes you through some beautiful places. There are brakish ponds, swamps, and of course Pitch Pines. There's also views of the bay as well. A great place for bird watching. Plus the trail is very wide and covered with gravel in most places, so its easy to avoid ticks. Be sure to also watch Part 2!
Because of that In Pines video I made. That spoof song is me. Until I get some lovin anyway.
