Kansas - Live - 1978 - Song For America ( Long Island,New York)

Recorded live at The Naussau Coliseum on Long Island,New York on July 7,1978. This was from the tour to support the release of the "Two For The Show" double live album. It is an excellent audience recording of a great performance.

The song is the title track from their second album "Song For America" released in 1975. It is one of a long list of Kerry Livgren masterpieces that I count as my favorite Kansas song!

Almost all of the photos come from this actual show! Some may even be from this very song. I couldn't pass up the chance to come that close to recreating part of this show.

You're welcome! You must be from my neck of the woods. The Cap Center right. I saw them there in 1976, They opened for Bad Company and blew them away! I saw them 4 times at Merriweather Post Pavillion and once at DAR Constitution Hall. They have been my favorite band since 1975 and this is my favorite song by them.

@rickyon Oh yes all the good times I had there. I really wasn't a Kansas fan until I saw them. But wow was that a great night. One of the best shows I ever have seen. And yes this is by far their best song. My 2nd favorite is a rather odd choice - Paradox. Surely you know that tune, off the Point of Know Return album.

I love Paradox! I'm sure that you won't find too many people that are more of a Kansas fanatic than I am. I've posted a huge amount of Kansas live and studio recordings here on my channel. Some are very rare. There are a few versions of Paradox here as well as one where you only hear the keyboards! It's from there show at the Canada Jam in 1978. Just saw kansas in elkhart indiana in september. It was one of my favorite concerts ever, and I have been to many in my ripe old age of 54...lol. It was just incredible!

I hate to rub it in but Kansas was firing on all cylinders on that tour! They were awesome! Did you ever get to see them?

I had tickets to see them in 1979 (14yrs old)....Cost each: $10. Was going to take the "girl next door" Kelly. Got caught shoplifting and my mom and dad grounded me. Had to sell the tickets to a friend for $5 each. Dang!!!! Stupid kid.
