Though he had previously played back-up for other blues men, such as BB King, this is Jimmy McCracklin's debut as a solo artist. It was recorded in L.A. for Globe records in 1945. Enjoy. Yes, there is a very curious cat somewhere in there too.

  • Great record, it sounds in minty condition. Love your cat! A real ginger lion. Mine's 26 lbs... he's unbelievably big-boned. OK a little overweight, but a large frame... his paws and head are just huge

  • @75capriceconvertible

The record is in good shape but I still had to filter it a bit. As for the Cat: He normally sits still until I start taping.

  • @laceup1967 I didn't realize you filtered the sound... do you have software to do this. I have some CDs of digitalized 78s and you can tell they're enhanced and filtered, actually they sound pretty darn good

  • @75capriceconvertible

I have only starter filtering recently. I've had some problems getting a system that is compatible with Vista on my laptop. I use the Roxio software with a USB hardware. Also for filtering, Audacity is quite good.

  • That's J.D. Nicholson on piano. I'm publishing an oral history of JD which includes some stories of his friendship with McCracklin.

  • @laceup1967 Yeah, that's exactly what this 10 lb-future-pair-of-mittens does too lol

  • @laceup1967 Yeah, I've heard nothing but good things about those Canadian headshells, heh heh, blush

  • @dewey70

Oh he's just a little guy. Barely 10 lbs. He only thinks he's a mountain lion. He sure does ROAR at 6 am.

  • @dewey70

Yeah I saw that request so I posted the record. I only discovered I had it the day before he requested it. Weird. As for the headshell comment, well, you know how to make a Canadian boy blush.

  • @Rubberbandlandinfo I'm gonna have to say mountain lion!
