Star Tours II Preview - Podrace Scene

After long anticipation, Star Tours II was officially announced by Jay Rasulo, with the help of Darth Vader and the 501st Stoormtrooper Legion, at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. Billed as something that "has never been done before in any theme park attraction, at any theme park," Star Tours II will open in 2011, but only before the original gives one last flight to the moon of Endor in October 2010. Be sure to book your flight now, before the final flight departs!

The preview video you are viewing now showcases only a small portion of the podrace scene, which is only a smaller portion of the entire ride film.

No, however it should be about the same length as the current ride, if not longer. The ride is also rumored to have more than one different ride film, each ride film taking you somewhere different. One obviously confirmed destination is Tatooine, another would probably be Coruscant, as seen in the trailer shown at the D23 Expo.

One of the rumored destinations is Hoth, however nothing has been said yet. The ride film also will be customizable, so scenes may appear in different orders each ride

Well... the original will be missed dearly, however the good news is that the original ride film may be remade in some fashion as the 4th destination, which is certainly great news.

The most recent official information is that the ride will be set in-between episodes 3 and 4, and that there will be 54 different experiences possible.

So, let's just hope for the best.
