*THIRD PLACE IN FANTASMALUNA'S FAIRY TALE CONTEST*
Finally, it is finished! I've been working on this for a while and having so many problems with it! Believe me, you don't know how hard it was to find clips of red shoes without the video being about the story of The Red Shoes!

Song: The Red Shoes
Artist: Kate Bush
Clips: Snow White, Snow White; a Tale of Terror, BBC's Robin Hood, Tanz der Vampire, The Frog Prince, The Tudors, The Phantom of the Opera (1989 & 2004)

Storyline: At the tender age of 16, Karen is a beautiful girl and just about every man in court is in love with her because of it, including the mysterious Unnamed Soldier. But he notices that even though Karen is beautiful, she is also very proud and vain about her beauty and he will not marry her until she learns a lesson in humility. So on her 18th birthday, he gives her a pair of gorgeous red dancing shoes and Karen is absolutely thrilled. What she doesn't know though is that the shoes are magic and when the Soldier complements how beautiful the slippers are and encourages her to dance in them; she finds that she cannot stop. Her feet finally stop dancing when she takes off the shoes. She puts them away for the night, but she cannot stop thinking about them. So the next day, she wears them to another ball in her honor. But the Soldier is there too and once again complements her shoes. But this time, he dances with her too and slowly begins to exude his power over her. As they continue to dance, he leads her outside and momentarily stops their dance and tries to kiss her. Karen is intrigued by him, but is too proud to say so, considering she feels that she's too good to marry him. So she rejects him and tries to run away, but finds herself dancing once again. Weeks pass and she still cannot stop dancing. She then finds herself in front of the Soldier again and he tells her that she must dance until she learns to humble herself. Karen tries to make him stop the curse, but the shoes carry her away before she can. Three years pass and as Karen continues to dance through many villages and towns, she sees other people who are vain just like she was. She realizes how much of a fool she was to be so proud and not admitting that she was always in love with the Soldier. At that moment, the Soldier shows up again and Karen tells him that she's realized the error of her ways and begs his forgiveness, also admitting her love for him. Her confession breaks the curse and the shoes slip off. No longer having the slippers on, Karen finally realizes how weak she is from very little food and lack of sleep. So with her dying breath, she tells the Soldier to take her away from all of the pain and he promises to take her somewhere where they'll be free. The two then kiss and Karen dies. The Soldier then picks her up and takes her to a place between space and time; the afterlife. There the two dwell together, happily forever after. Now who exactly was the mysterious Unnamed Soldier? I'll let you decide. *wink*

  • What version? The Cannon version doesn't have that scene.

  • @goddessofmanga It's from a Czech/German version. (Entitled Zabí král or Der Froschkönig if you're interested in looking it up.)

  • What is the dancing scene from for the soldier and the princess? I really want to know!

  • @goddessofmanga Do you mean at 1:34? That's from The Frog Prince.

  • Out of curiosity what movie is it from 0:01 to 0:05? I've been going through your list but there are a lot of movies and versions out there and the girl is very pretty.

  • love it. awesome video.

  • @FantasmaLuna Kate Bush has some amazing music! She does kinda look like Lilli, come to think of it. lol As for the soldier, I like to leave it up to the viewer to decide exactly who he was, so it's definately interesting to think of him as the Grim Reaper in disguise! :D

Yay! Can't wait to see the results video!

  • @EponineGraydeChagny Oh, I adore Kate Bush! She does look a bit like Lilli, doesn't she? It really fits. And yes, Richard Armitage is painfully gorgeous as the soldier and I loved their chemistry. I kinda like to think the soldier was the Grimm Reaper in disguise. LOL!

I'm working on the results as we speak, which is why I finally decided to comment. The results should be up within a couple of days or so. :)

  • @OceanMistVids Thank you! :)

  • @FantasmaLuna Thank you so much for you comment! Yay, another Kate Bush fan! I love her too! :D Anyway, the girl who played Snow White in that old movie version looked a lot like Lilli, so she seemed perfect for her younger self and The Red Shoes has always been one of my favorite stories, so I really enjoyed doing this video. (Not to mention the gorgeous Richard Armitage was perfect as the soldier!)

BTW, when are you going to have your results video up?
