  • interesting guy had a life of collecting pearls and shells but gave it up to sing. would be great if i could do that

  • He may be retired but he sang yesterday at the Cultural Centre in Brisbane yesterday. What a honour to hear this living treasure.

  • What a refreshing ,honest, unpretentious person.. pleasure to view this vid, hear music clips too........

  • I served him his gin and lemonade this arvo while he was in shout with a few of the old guard at the "Torres". He tipped me a few gold coins which I then promptly put in the jukebox and played a few of his memorable tunes. It is a privilege to have him pop in now and then to say gday to the "Torres" folks :) 82 not out not a bad average Awa ;)

  • I met Uncle Seaman when I worked at the Wongai on Horn Island in 2008. He really wad so warm and friendly to everyone. And I love his music.

  • I have personally met seaman Dan, and heard him perform. He is a wonderful musician, but an even kinder man

  • Steady, steady, Awa Dan is still playing every Wednesday night at the Wongai on Horn island and every Sunday at the Torres on T.I. such a happy, genial person.

they broke the mold when they made this man.

  • What a warm & wonderful man and such a great musician & singer..

  • I've actually met him and used buy his hotdogs from him at the Torres Straits hotel back in 1995/1996
