  • @tehtehist the prerequsites are simple.... But all it boils down to ur mentality... To be frank, from 40 condidates, all in SPF, came to about 6 people who survived the "hell week"... "hell week" is just the beginning. Those who survived will then start the actually training.

  • @ivanselfdefence u must know the law 1st... Yes sq117 were dealt by the commandos... And whenever it has become international.news, commandos will step in... Otherwise, the STAR will handle such hostage situation... Just to clarify the matter... At the end of the day, its about protecting Singapore... Regardless whether u are man in green, blue, orange,or white... Cheers....

  • I wanna join the s.t.a.r team! But i cannot really swim.. :(

  • cheh talk this god lah, that good....got go war or not?

  • What are the prerequisites to join the STAR team?

  • @trublesun Please take note Star has no real life shoot out encounter and 0 take downs... The only real life encounters are accomplished successfully by the SOF commandos on the SQ 117 terrorist hijack. Military are not just about jungle warfare. Most Military spec ops worldwide includes Direct Action, Special Recon, Unconventional warfare, Anti- terrorism (Close quarter battles). And lastly, most anti terrorism trainers are from spec ops from military and they are the ones that train police...

  • S.T.A.R.S stands for Special Tactics and Rescue Service. What we do is simple...we save people! We are not hunters we are police officers and we see it as our job to make sure that every civilian gets somewhere that is safe. we only recruit the bravest of survivors, much training is done to ensure you are up to the job but in this frantic fight for survival we stand our ground and attempt to save as many lives as possible! Want to make a difference? The S.T.A.R.S need you! Apply today!

  • @unclejackal While I can't speak for the others because I don't have first hand experience, I had the honour of watching the DART team training. I must say, these are psychos who seem to enjoy pain. A transcendental experience of sort... to see people who put their bodies to such potential danger for a life saving profession. A far cry from the normal fire fighting training syllabus(which isn't by any normal standards an easy training either).

  • @jaffabar69 mp5 uzi p90 m4a1

  • SCDF have their Firefighters, the elites among firefighters are DART.

    (Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team)

SPF have their SOC, the elites among SOC are STAR.

    (Special Tatics and Rescue)

SPF have their PCG, the elites among PCG are STS.

    (Special Task Squadron)

    Prisons have their elite SPEAR.

    (Singapore Prisons Emergency Action Response)

Only Nutcases join them and I salute these Nutcases!!
