Huge fail: A-10 has a 30mm cannon, not a .30 caliber.

The sound of that 30mm never gets old! Used to hear these and AC-130's (love that 40 and 105) practicing. I wonder if that's at Eglin/Hurlburt. They have the SpecOps at Hurlburt and A-10's at Eglin. Those target ranges look like north-west Florida too.

I was on a training exercise 20 yrs ago set up about 50meters from a riverbank. Smartass A10 driver came up the riverbed just over the water yet below the bankline. Had about 1 1/2 - 2 seconds audible warning before he popped up. Just enough time to hear it and think: whatthehellisthat/where'sitat!/ohSHITohShit!!!!! And in that moment it was in our face in all of it's glory. Would have been a very, very bad day had I been OPFOR. Gotta love Hog drivers. Fly 'em like a very lethal cropduster.
