The relation between greek byzants and today greeks is our language, our religion, our traditions. That is what makes the diference.
Our continuesly history was never interupted in minor Asia until the Kemal wave the villages and towns, which was from our grandfathers established, total destroied.
The Constantinopel was attacked from the Crusaders but was not destroied, after that the latins was in the cityside Galata which they built their trade center. You don't know our history, don't try now.

@mauriceam hello.i am doing a research about the Jewry in Salonica and the silence of the greek historiography about the Holocaust era related to this city. How could i contact you?

I am sick of finding racist a**holes under every video that I watch. I am not a Jew and not a Greek but I like both people. As for racist idiots, I hope the world will be cleansed of such scum. People hating other people only just because they were born to a different culture and ethnic group - that is sick, indeed the sickest of thing in this world...

@mizas79 I'm not a Jew. Nobody in my family is a Jew. I just read history and you should do the same. I mention books that could teach you something and you insult me. How f*cked up is that? If you're suggesting that what I'm saying has anything to do with Israel claiming the land that should belong to the Palestinians, all I have to say is that you're just paranoid.
-
@andorkez jews keep hiding and acting like victims you always been good at that, and then claiming land and history that never belongs to you! fukin parasites!

@mizas79 Until the 1920s, there were more Jews in Salonika than Greeks. Between then and the Holocaust, Jews ere still at least a third of the total population of the city. Read "Salonica: City of Ghosts" by M. Mazower and "Greece - a Jewish History" by K. Fleming for more information. Και τα δύο έχουν μεταφραστεί στα Ελληνικά.

@blackstroke1 Therefore, the Jews who had been living there since the sixteenth century were visiting, while the Mikrasiates who were relocated there in the 1920s were the natural "owners" of the city, right? Before the 1920s, Greeks were less than a third of Salonika's population. Read this book, which hhasave been translated into Greek: Salonika, City of Ghosts, by Mark Mazower.

Are you going to leave your home land and go to another country for a higher standard of living hay, you dirty peasant hooked nose rats
Yes it is quite interesting to see the amount of hate generated by these two minutes of introduction. Greece has a serious problem with memory and history and truth. Maybe the economic crisis will not only help to reconsider finance, economy, policies, but also history.
