"Flying toilets" in Kenya slum to be replaced by new facility (KWENCH)

Constance Hunt, founder of KWENCH (Kenya Water, ENergy, Cleanliness and Health) talks about her new community center. It provides toilets and cooking facilities and runs on fermented human waste.

This community center will immediately provide toilets for the thousands that live nearby. There are NO toilets in this slum, period. The current practice is a flying toilet where a person defecates in a plastic bag and literally chucks it out the window of the shack without regard to the mess it leaves in the community as a whole.
