They didn't hate each other. As Leonard Nimoy said, they were both competitive, and they had a friendly "sibling rivalry" going on. Kirk and Spock were created to be best friends before they had filmed any of the episodes.

Is it possible for the world to find anybody else who is quite as gorgeous as he is? I doubt it.
