Look up colonization, and you'll discover that what some called backward, barbaric, uncivilized and such, is also what the social sciences today call fully phenomenal culture. Then delve a little deeper into history, and find this has been the case since, well... forever. Rock on China. Yours is a culture of beauty, wonder, good, bad, and ugly... like all the others.

満洲族は、辛亥革命の前に、全ての満洲八旗軍団を父祖の地である
満洲に撤退させて満洲の守りを固めていれば、現在も満州族の国を 維持できていたかもしれませんね。 -

We can't embrace it, because the Chinese civilization is considered the "old world order" in wake of 19-20th century Western modernization. Our culture were considered backward compared to the West. but not sure in the 21st century if things will change in globalisation
I'll tell you one irony, if you've ever visited Forbidden Palace in Beijing just like what you see inside this film. The explanation signs are all sponsored by "American Express" lol The West wont let go of China.

I'm surprised D.Byrnes had a part in making the soundtrack to this great movie.
Thank God it was an Italian who directed this movie. Had it been a Hollywood pure breed, this movie would have been a disaster, a tragic story told without heart and soul, or any empathy.
