@j72050 Richter's recordings of the Liszt concerti are amazing. Liszt had a giant personality, before he arrived on the scene the piano was a salon instrument. It was said of him too that he could produce a more powerful effect than the entire orchestra. Richter's soul expands to fill the entire hall. :)

Beautiful, Liszt for ever...

It's not a complicated piece of piano writing but playing it up to speed is ---- well ... difficult! The opening photo - actually part of the original photo - of Liszt in his music room at the Hofgartnerei, Weimar, is magnificent. It's the only one of its kind of which I am aware!

The cadenza was stunning!

Legendary, of course. And what a beautiful and noble Bechstein piano.

this is the best version of the liszt concerto i ve ever heard.richter plays so masterful and magnificent with such a great passion.he was such a great musician and virtuoso on the piano and he was a great great man,a giant.i am so enthusiastic about this unique interpretation, its a wonder:)))
This is a beautiful experiance. Sviatoslav Richter makes it sound so simple but it is an incredibly different piece to play. There is no hesitancy with Ritcher in any of the passages. Thank you for this set.
