Polly Bergen's performance in the title role of TV's version of Helen Morgan's life won her an Emmy Award in 1957 and earned her the right to join the ranks of TV's greatest stars like Gisele MacKenzie, Perry Como, Dean Martin, etc., as star of her own TV variety series. The Morgan biography also resulted in MS Bergan getting a recording contract with Columbia Records where she recorded the best-selling "Bergen Sings Morgan" album. Here are some of MS Bergen's vocal performances from this television event: Why Was I Born, Mean to Me, Bill and Can't Help Lovin' That Man. Unlike the film of MS Morgan's life that was released around the same time, the TV production followed Morgan's sad life in true detail, since it had Lulu Morgan (Helen's Mother) as a story consultant. Ronnie Burns, son of TV legends George Burns & Gracie Allen, was cast in the TV Morgan Story as Helen's young husband.
