Trihedral corner reflectors are used for radiometric calibration of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data. This time lapse movie shows the assembly of a rather large prototype corner reflector at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA.
This is an example of a triangular trihedral corner reflector, i.e. three right triangles mounted together to form a corner. The short legs of the three triangles are 4.8 m (15.7 ft).
