Created by www.speffects.com, the dress was entirely done with nCloth. The character was animated with motion capture data.

  • well, i understand how ncloth and a dress works but what if it were a poofy dress that didn't flow as much? how do you make it move less? is it somewhere in the settings?

  • @uzumakiii The process is two fold. First you want to design the geometry to accomodate the intended deformations of the dress. Second you would adjust the attributes of the ncloth. There isn't any one all solution. Most if not all of the attributes under the Dynamic properties rollout will need to be adjusted depending on the type of material you are creating.

  • I have paid for your Maya Cloth tutorial. Where is the download link? Thanks.

  • Beautiful. With fast movements, how can I control the interpenetration?, what about if in the middle of the animation, i got 1 body face got interpenetrated with the cloth faces? How can I correct that?

    Congrats!!!

  • that must be a stink dirty dress that felt so heavy and unnatural , should wash it a bit or set the speed slower ^^

  • I love it! So graceful! ^-^

  • @DCampbell01 I think I was getting around 2 minutes a frame. nCloth itself does not add anything to your render time. It takes more work to complete prior to rendering but nothing during rendering. Mental Ray was used with Final Gather. nCloth is awesome. If you are looking to get into CG effects type work you definitely should learn nCloth.
