Introduce Yourself.

I'm Justin Richards; I'm 21 and I play guitar and sing in Brighten.

So did you guys find out what to name your EP yet?

Yes, it's called Early Love.

When will it be released?

Were hoping sometime in June; either late June or early July.

July my birthday!

What's it like being featured in magazines (such as AP) as an unsigned band to look for in the future?

It's just awesome. We get so excited that people like our band. When they put us in a magazine like that , it doesn't seem so surreal. You know, it's all over America. It's really cool seeing that.




Some of your fans have tattoos from your lyrics; which tattoo that you have seen do you like the most?

I don't know. We have a friend who has one that is the cover King vs. Queen. There's a parachute with a guy in it and there's another one that a girl has it's like the King and Queen like the one I have. I thought that was pretty cool.


Jimmy is going to Africa and he needs $3000 to go, does he have enough yet?

I think so, yeah. I know a lot of people have been contributing money to that, which we are super happy about and we are thankful for that. Jimmy is always talking about that, so he's super excited.




I saw that you have a truth box on your personal myspace, what's the worst comment you got and what's your favorite?

One of them was weird I didn't know how to respond to it. It said "your not who I thought you were" and I don't know if it was a bad thing or if it's a good thing. All of them seem be to really nice. Everyone
has been really nice so far. I like the ones that say "your cute". It's really nice to see.

Everybody has those now.

I know it's weird. It all started in a week, everyone started getting one.

They post bulletins and stuff, "oh leave me a truth box comment thing."


I know.

If you could tour anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I think the UK, I really like to go there. Like I don't know, Paris. I always wanted to go to Europe, so I think there. That or Australia.

I went to Australia, it's really nice.

You like it?

Yeah.

Where did you go?

I went to Sydney, Brisbane and other places; I forgot.

That's awesome, I always wanted to go.

But we had to drive there [Sydney to Brisbane (I wasn't clear, sorry)] and it took forever.

Really?

Yeah.

Where are you from?

I live in California (next to San Francisco)

Have you guys come down here yet?

We played around there, it's weird we never played at like Filmore or Warfield or anything like that before. Hopefully we can go there soon.

No one comes here.

I know, it's weird.

How often would you wash your clothes while you're touring?

On the first tour it was really bad like, I didn't know how often you would do laundry. So, I only brought 2 pairs of socks and few pairs of underwear and all that stuff. It was super bad because you really only got to do it 2 times in a 2 month tour and so now I bring like 50 pairs of socks and tons of stuff. I would do about 2 or 3 times a tour. So I would get as many shirts and socks and stuff as possible, but I would wear the same pants everyday; I don't care.


If you could go on a date with any actress or singer, who would it be?

Taylor Swift or Keira Knightly.

You're like Alex from All Time Low.

I know, me and him always talk about Keira Knightly. But like I don't know, they're like a tie. But I would have to go with Taylor Swift because she could sing.
