  • This one is not quite as funny as Carney's 1966 appearance (where he does an FDR impression) or Carney's 1961 appearance (where he does a Daly impression) -- but it is fascinating to see him at the time of his big hit "The Odd Couple."

Carol Channing sits in for Dorothy Kilgallen, who in March 1965 slipped on a throw rug and broke her collarbone.

  • I know what Art's Line was in the Honeymooners- sewer worker

Man, oh man... a broken collarbone followed by a mysterious death... 1965 sure was a lousy year for Kilgallen...

  • @tuxguys This episode was broadcast in March 1965 while Dorothy recovered from a fall. Dorothy died in November 1965, so in the long view -- this is shortly before Kilgallen's mysterious death.

Wasn't this also shortly before Kilgallen's death under extremely mysterious circumstances?

  • This is the forth WML show that I watched with Art Carney. He was funny every time. And Cerf guessed him all four times too.

  • One of the true greats of comedy.

  • If only there were clips or a recording that existed of Carney as Felix, THAT would be something! I remember reading an article in Time (I believe) where the columnist (who had seen the play & the movie) noted that Carney was MUCH funnier in the role than Lemmon was. Carney and Matthau later appeared together in the film House Calls, and they had GREAT chemistry. A shame that all that exists is a Playbill photograph of the two as Oscar & Felix. Oh well.

  • Lance Armstrong broke his collarbone too in a bicycle race, but that was very recently.

  • Alan King in awe... pretty cool.
