I know the lead Game Development manager and the System designer for NCsoft and this footage is from the Alpha, it is unpolished, much of it is unscripted and incomplete. I think the game looks amazing, the art style is fantastic and the races are very neat. The game's combat system will be much more fast paced come launch so here's and idea, try typing educated comments like @CeonM.

Your comment failes because the combat techniques your talking about have been in games for ever. Yes NCSoft is putting them into MMOs but it's been done before not only that. Why criticize a company for using things it's PUBLISHER has had success with? This game isn't coming out until like 2012 or later so lets see what happens before composing mindless comments.

Game looks amazing. More detailed than wow. Wish it had more races though. Maybe there will be more when it's released.

After seeing the 37 minute video, the only thing this game has in common with WOW(a game I played for 6 yrs) is they are both colorful. As someone pointed out below, the dodge(you should see it on bossfights lol soo cool) makes the combat instantly better. The animation is fantastic. They also have "Paths". In the video they went over the explorer path. It had basic jump here drop beacon. It also had some exploration that led to you gaining 2 airdropped snipers for extra help in an instance.

@chook151 wow.. learn you facts before you open your mouth.. They are both published by NcSoft, meaning NcSoft helps them market their game.. Wildstar is developed by NcSoft meaning that it will most likely be a snoozefest just like Aion and lineage which was also developed by NcSoft.. Guild Wars on the otherhand was developed by ArenaNet, a group of highly dedicated group of programmers and gamers that knows exactly what the gamers want.. BIG DIFFERENCE.

@Nishua This game's is a far cry away from how fluid guild wars 2 combat is.. doesn't matter when this game comes out.. NcSoft is known to make their games horrifically grindy, for example: Aion and Lineage.. If this is coming out after 2012 it better have some sort of innovative targeting system, and not the bullshit auto target that every mmo has had since the days of everquest..

its not so much about combat techniques but as they have all been done. but how good the story and community is.

Somehow, some gamers like CeonM lack the very ability to process or observed basic things such as: NCSoft are the same publishers (can't fail at something they've already done before) or that the person playing was following the tutorial so it seems slow paced.

We can't make stupid assumptions on things that haven't even been out yet. Moreover, it's the same genre,of COURSE you'll see mechanics that are the same. I could say it copied something like Shiaya, too, because it's an mmorpg.
