I was given permission to follow Dartmoor Search and Rescue on one of their training exercises. In the first video we get to look inside one of their vehicles and look at the sort of equipment they carry. Continued in parts 2 and 3.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue is run completely by volunteers and donations. They train every week and attend call outs along side their normal jobs. They make a huge commitment so that if someone is in trouble they are there to help. So next time you are in the countryside/wilderness give a thought to the people who will be called out to rescue you if you get in trouble.

  • Great job guys and a great suggestion to support the locals that will be pulling your fat out of the fire if need be!

You summed up in one sentence what I was trying to get across in my 3 videos. Thanks for commenting.

  • i don't think rescue workers get enough credit for the job they do

supporting not only your local community fire/search and rescue but those who are out there in the remote areas is the right thing to do.

who knows they may be needed for you or me

what would happen if they were not there when someone really needed their help

goodstuff thanks for posting this video

I was not aware or the commitment that the search and rescue teams make. They train every week plus attend real rescues along side full time jobs.

  • Thanks sean great series of vids.

  • The new emergency number from the advertisement instead of 999 is 0118 999 881 999 119 725 3 lol

  • Well done Sean, excellent video :-)

  • Well done Sean and Keith, I got a lot of respect for the volunteers and this upload was very interesting and give a good insight to what these unsung heros get up to when they are on a call and the equiptment they use, I live close to the Cairngorm national park and often see the RAF Kinloss mountain rescue team rushing to a job, educational videos like this are a good way of avoiding silly mistakes on the hills,

  • they do a good job.

  • Cool video, thanks, great work. Regards Sepp
