Traditional Russian Folk Songs: Снегурочка (Snow Maiden)

Snegurochka (Снегурочка) is a Russian folk song about the a Snow Maiden who is lonely and cold who falls in love and when her heart warms, she melts. This character is used in many Russian fairy tales. She usually is the Granddaughter of Ded Moroz, or Russian Father Christmas.

And I remember this. Great grandmother used to tell me stories about the Snow maiden. It made me sad that she melted but I loved that her skin was as white as snow. Kids used to make fun of my paleness and inability to tan. lol
