Yeah, they've removed the cloak armor and none of the gundams is carrying a shield anymore. Shields are extremely handy equipment. The Mobile Suit Gundam's (MS0079) shield saved Amuro Ray's ass a countless number of times (even when only using it as a diversion).
But than again, they've downgraded the hardware and upgraded (the already highly utilized) plotarmor. But still a fun series (and movie) to watch!

@allmightydough Also, the scythe of Deathscythe Hell in the series was upgraded to have a second blade, though this was changed back to single huge blade for Endless Waltz.

@leegeddyfan I SO AGREE.

@allmightydough Deathscythe Hell (or Kai/Custom) has the "cloak" armor that folds out behind it to look like bat wings as part of its upgrade during the middle of Wing. "Plain old" Deathscythe didn't.

@DreamPen i found the Deathscythe in the movie to be inferior to the one in the second half of gundam wing
-
@Tuning3434 the DH Custom model is still inferior to the Deathscythe Hell in the second half of the series as they downgraded certain parts to make it more flashy looking for the movie

@Shooter51x The cloak was a very nice touch. Very creative and stylish design.
ahh the good ole times when duo killed mobile suits and their pilots not like in endless waltz when we was a pacifist along with trowa,qutrae,zechs and nione

Yeah. But I still don't understand why in GW the reactors of the mobile suit don't blow up in a nuclear explosion. In UC series, depending on the situation, pilots have to target the cockpit of the enemy suit to prevent reactor detonation. Amuro Ray lost his innocence when he pushed his beam saber through the 2th Zaku he took out.
But then again, they don't portray the GW gundam pilots as the killers they are. Only Trowa once.

@Tuning3434 I thought Heero Yuy was pretty ax crazy the whole time- even when he couldn't kill Releena or was being philosophical with Quattre.

@DreamPen
Heero is a trained assassin, and indeed acts as one. But GW never portrays the pilots as killers. They only take out grunt mobile suits or nameless / faceless pilots. Although Quattre, Trowa and Duo are portrayed as having a conscience, they hardly show remorse or emotional trouble caused by the dead count they have produced. In most UC series, there is more emphasis on character development of the to be bodies, and the most characters show to have emotions caused by their actions.

EDIT: Although Quattre, Trowa and Duo are portrayed as having a conscience, they hardly shown as having remorse or experiencing emotional trouble caused by the dead count they have produced. Especially for Quattre, a nice kid raised in a very protective environment, you would expect more trouble adapting to a soldier. The other pilots have lost their puberty in their previous hard youth, but Quattre is still right in it; as piloting a gundam is his act of pubertal retaliation.
