The singer is Doug Irvine (79/80 in the band). This is a pre-version of "The Web"

  • Please can someone put out Lady Fantasy on You Tube! I have a strange feeling there is material for a full record with Irvine/Jelliman/Pointer/Rothery somewhere.

  • @mrmarillionelo

  • Now, start criticizing Doug Irvine, just because they sound fucking brilliant, back-then, Fish-then, Hogarth-now, Marillion-eternally!!!

  • I have a copy of the Lady Fantasy demo, with this on it, madcaps embrace and institution waltz. Bought it from a record fair in George street assembly rooms in Edinburgh in 1984. Can't sell that, it's worth a small fortune.

  • this version is also very good

  • Any chance to get the lyrics of this great song? Some english speaker here?

  • In some way this version is better than The Web: it's more "seventy".

  • After hard work i find demos with "original lineup" on internet, and it´s very sad this lineup never come out with a full studio album :-(.

  • It was actually called 'Margaret gets her oats' . I don't know if there is a version about. The only studio tape was recorded at The Enid's studio in Suffolk but I think this is it!

  • There is another song with Doug Irvine/marillion: Scotts poridge. I hope someone can put out it on You Tube

  • are there any proper studio recordings under Doug Irvine's name?

  • This is perhaps my favourite Marillion song. I played this till the tape wore out.
