I was thinking, if you can do the casting in two steps, then you can make a rotor that can be disassembled, so you can change or recover the magnets easily. If you have two flat round split rotor pieces you can bolt them together when you assemble the rotor. Maybe handy for a next design. I would also wax the magnets before I would do the casting. Then it is also a lot easier to remove them if you ever need to

@insAneTunA Thanks for the tips, will remember for the next one I build. I used crisco as the release agent and that worked fine. All in all the new rotor should work fine, but it could look nicer. I was able to get it mounted to the lathe and trued up in alll directions. Should be a new video soon with it put together. Thanks again iT.

You can also use baking soda to thicken up the resin, but it does not give extra strength, it is a little easier to handle.

@insAneTunA With the flakes mixed with the resin it will become a thicker substance. Carnuba car wax is used to wax the mold as a mold release so the hardened resin can removed easily. colored kids clay is used to seal off the mold. You can cover the whole piece with a flat waxed surface and use an air vent. Then you will always have a flat finish when you cast the mold. Just keep on poor in the resin until the air vent hole flows over with resin. Maybe you have to do the casting in two steps.

When you mix the resin it is best to use a stick and to stir it gently. It is also better to poor in the resin slowly so the air bubbles have time to pop up, and that you don't poor in the resin directly from the cup that you used to mix the resin, but that you use a cheap DIY bakery sack that is used for whipped cream. You can fold one from a sheet of glossy paper. If you go to the RC shop then you can get cotton or glass fiber flakes that you can mix with the resin for extra sturdiness.
