This much covered classic was written and first recorded by Gordon Lightfoot in 1964, but not released till 1966. This is Gordon's 1975 re-recording - the original, and still the best.

  • One of the greatest songs ever written. Gord owns a lot of songs you could say THAT about.

  • I love the picture of him; his eyes bore right through with a cool kind of intelligence. One of my favorite songs of his, too. Thanks for posting this!

  • I love Gordon and Dylan equally. I consider them to not only be different genres, but different roles. Bob was a poet that put music to his verses. Gordon was a songwriter, combining music and verse into a totally different form. His songs were designed as songs, not as political statements. Bob was the voice of a generation, his songs railing against the establishment to anyone who would listen. In the end, Bob's themes will be as timeless as Kerouac, but Gordon's songs will be beautiful.

  • @ELVIS4221 I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT!

  • THIS SONG HAS ALWAYS TORN ME UP INSIDE, ESP WHEN HE SAYS, "THIS OLD AIRPORTS GOT ME DOWN, ITS NO EARTHLY GOOD TO ME, I'M STUCK HERE ON THE GROUND, JUST COLD AND DRUNK AS I CAN BE, YOU CANT JUMP A JET PLANE, LIKE YOU CAN A FREIGHT TRAIN, SO I BEST BE ON MY WAY, IN THE EARLY MORNING RAIN. IF YOU’VE EVER EXPERIENCED THIS FEELING, THE DAMPNESS, THE EMPTINESS, THE LOSS, THE TIREDNESS AND EXHAUSTION OF THE MOMENT, YOU’LL KNOW THAT HE NAILS IT A LITTLE TOO CLOSE TO THE HEART. NO MOVIE CAN EVER MATCH IT

  • @UpstairsMaid In all fairness, Gordon can sing!

  • @UpstairsMaid I hear ya!

  • @rcamp72 honestly I'll take Gord over Bob any day.

  • One of my favorites. Brings me waay back.
