Residence Hall Room Fire Demonstration

On Wednesday, Oct. 26, officials built, furnished, and set aflame two mock residence hall rooms in Hubbard Park. One room was outfitted with a fire sprinkler; the other was not. The demonstration, a collaborative effort between the University of Iowa and the Iowa City Fire Department, illustrated the importance of fire safety and protection, gave spectators an opportunity to see how fire sprinklers operate, and showed how the fire department responds to and extinguishes fires.
