Eighteen miles North of Downtown San Diego lies the once secluded retreat of Hollywood celebrities, Del Mar. Del Mar is home to Torrey Pines State Reserve which features hiking trails which run along the Pacific Ocean. North of the reserve are magnificent beaches where visitors and tourist can enjoy Southern California's celebrated climate year round. Del Mar's Dog beach is ideal taking your dog for a swim and a sandy walk. Whatever it is you seek the beaches at Del Mar offer a marine paradise that has something for everyone.

From late July through early September the city is caught up in a racing frenzy with world-class thoroughbred racing at the Del Mar Racetrack. Racing season directly follows the Del Mar Fair and combined they makes summer perfect time to visit.
