I WANT TO MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR. I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL CREATOR OF THE SOFTWARE USED HERE. I found this software in my quest to accomplish floppy drive music!! While I am intimately familiar with it and tried to accomplish the same thing on my own, I found this solution instead and used it! The awesome person who made is named Sammy1Am and if you have not seen his stuff you must go to his channel. Right now! I made this point very clear in past videos but many people are landing here first and have not seen the others! Thank you for watching!

AWWWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! 'Nuff said.

If you like this then PLEASE like, comment on, favorite, and above all, SHARE my video! It lets me know you care =D

This was made possible thanks to midimachine on newgrounds! Check out his page at: http://midimachine.newgrounds.com/

He's got a bunch of awesome stuff on there.

Enjoy this video? Check out the rest of them through this playlist: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL44C2614808EB920E

After discovering some things, I found a better way of recording my stuff and thus give you two versions. The first is the original audio from the video and the second is using the updated technique for recording. Let me know which you find to be better =D

  • Where can I get this MIDI file?

  • Midimachine made the original MIDI I edited for this. If you want that read the description to find his home page on newgrounds.

If you want my edited copy, PM me with an email address.

  • this would sound allot better on stepper motors. it would be closer to the original sound. but this is also awesome!

  • Yeah, as Zapzdoughnut had said, floppy drives use stepper motors. They are smaller than your average one, but amplified through the body/construction.

  • I like the part where the sound of a floppy drive stepper is entirely faithful to Daft Punk's choice of "instruments" for this song, lol.

  • Fun fact, that part is totally unpredictable because that's an actual overload of commands for the Arduino. I had to record the video a few times before I got the EXACT outcome I wanted. =P

  • and this is how dubstep was born.

  • It sounds exactly the same...

  • DO SYNDICATE

  • y u no write Tron?

  • could you re do this and all your older music onto your new 8 drive setup?

  • They should have used this for the new TRON movie, its music from hardware, and the film is set in a computer after all

  • I wonder if the black one in the middle feels pressure during its solo...

  • Too bad it's not extremely accurate and often sounds like the drives are going to be stuck within the next 5 seconds.

That said though, amazing effort all the same. Because I will honestly admit I cannot do better. I'm just sad this isn't as awesome as I had hoped.

  • Просто Супер!!!! ))))
