Mark 10:25
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Matthew 19:24
And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

  • Good points. My grandparents lived through the Great Depression, and as kids they didn't know anything about any depression. Everyone that they knew was already poor, and they were poor before the depression. They just lived just like all rural poor folks lived back then.

  • two*

i think the reason this is true is because imho, a person cannot be rich and have virtue.

    greed, vanity, envy, etc.

it just doesnt mesh with virtue.

  • yup no man can serve to masters.

he will love one and hate the other.

one cannot serve god and money.

    good thoughts. :)

  • right on.

  • During the depression era that is how people dressed. If you look at pictures of carpenters back then you will see that they worked construction in a suit and tie. 18 hour days and if they got hurt and couldn't work NEXT guy in line got the job. Question is... do you have the skill to be that next guy? never mind the suit.
