As good a guitarist as he is, this just fails in comparison to Rory Gallagher, its not even in the same league. Just watch the Irish Tour version and it becomes oh so clear.

Rory Gallagher was one of the best but so is Joe! Calling this shit and saying it fails is ignorant. I've listened to both many times and I like Joe's version better. Joe has more feeling than 95% of the shitty guitarist that produce "music" in the modern scene so get off his case. And Joe isn't trying to play like anyone but Joe Bonamassa. Joe is playing not Rory so it's not going to sound like Rory playing it. Common sense.

@tailspinheadwack This is taken from " new day yesterday live DVD" which was recorded on December 2001 in Fort Wayne Indiana. After a lot of searching I have just got my hands on a copy from the states. Impossible to find here in England.

Pretty lame compared to any of Rory Gallagher's versions. He just doesn't have a clue how to play like Rory did.

@masonking12000 Man, if you were a friend of Rory Gallagher you deserve a place in my hall of fame! He was one of the guys i admired (still admire) the most. I still remember when I discovered his Europe Tour and and it knocked me out.

This is a great cover! I am sure Rory Gallagher would be proud of it! One of the reasons Joe Bonamassa is such a good guitarrist is that he makes us remember of other good guitarrists!
