Was rushed to the hospital last Thursday with severe abdominal pain. Found out I had an acute internal hernia. Vomiting blood and could not eat. Signs to watch for.

  • I had RNY in '06 & was very sick for 3 years.. I could't keep anything down.I had an ulcer due to the RNY. They could not shrink it so they did surgery to get it out. in the end, they also had to take my entire stomach out! I also had a hernia. In '09 I nearly died. I kept telling the drs something was wrong & they would not believe me. I had all the tests-to no avail. This surgery should not be done on people who are only 278# and 5'5"! There are too many complications!

  • How scary, glad that you're ok and on the mend. How do they not know why this happens, and can't try to prevent it, that seems crazy!!!

  • I hear you on tufts... I went there too. And, I have a emergency situation where I was passing out every few hours.. and had a tear in my incision.

between you and me, I saw DR shikora 2 days after I went home, Came in, and He didn't remember me. He had just cut me open!

  • Holy crap!! That is really scary, I'm sorry you had to go through that. Glad to se you are doing better.
