One of the underrated singers in the business! For that reason Monroe has not really been given his due in the world of music. One of the greats, for sure. And so long as I'm at it, may I ask if anyone can post his timeless pieces, "Let's Get Lost" and "Now It Can Be Told," which I thought for certain would be included here on YouTube?

boy he had a great deep toned voice. When I saw him in that republic b wester and he was singing Raw hide i thought that was excellent

A powerful voice, great!

Vaughn Monroe demonstrating his well-deserved nickname:
"Old Leather Tonsils".
Sure, he's great. But to us his voice sounds like a foghorn.

Very glad you enjoy it! Monroe had the voice quality to have succeeded as an opera star--had he chosen that path.
Best wishes,

Great rendition. Monroe primarily played trumpet with Marshard, and only occasionally sang. This was done before Monroe started his own band, at Marshard's urging and had his voice retrained to be more "crooner" like.
One of my favorite recordings/

Excellent information, Herb--I appreciate it. I had always loved Vaughn's "Ghost Riders" but only recently discovered his earlier crooning work. A great talent, certainly!
