What does the traditional organizational chart really tell us? Nada, says Dr. E.L. Kersten, author of "The Art of Demotivation." Here he explains how a "salary-sensitive" chart can do more to show employees their true value. Learn more about his company's demotivational products at Despair.com.

Wow, this is unbelievably stupid Talk about demotivating your staff. Forget the ego issue with the CEO, the bigger issue arrises from the: "I have a little box so I'm not important." mentality with the entire organization.

(applause) Really, I think that CEO's should have their ego's massaged at any point in time...

Sorry, but this is unbelievably stupid. No additional information...
"Oh look at him! He is not only my CEO! No, he has a much bigger box!"
Maybe the purpose of this chart is not to show me that my CEO earns much more than me.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

But how do you look at employee attributes like integrity and contribution? A dynamic box that changes in response to corporate profitability, growth, and relative contribution (by department) would be far more instructive. CEOs with big salaries or egos but with poor environmental records or a poor record of community reinvestment should have their box diminished, or perhaps (dis)colored red to reflect their disengenuous nature.
