Very well done! This is awesome and so much better than duplicating layers and off setting the z-value.

By the way, if you zero out the Strength and Gravity values (Under Force 1, Force 2, and Physics) you will remove the Shatter effect for the duration of your timeline.

And to trueheads - what are you doing watching an After Effects tutorial when you don't know how to maximize a video to view it? I'm surprised you know how to turn a computer on.

Thank you... and yes there are multiple ways one of which dkeller stated which would most likely save time by simply changing values rather than creating a snapshot to null the shatter effect.

This is it. Simply create save a frame as a picture and implement the 3D text then you can rotate the text as if it were an object as long as you screen it

Actually, I just recently got After Effects CS4 so that is what this tutorial is using. Regardless, CS3 has the same capabilities and you can still create 3D text using almost the exact same steps.

I just use CS4 because it is smoother in my opinion.
