Is this Pantech worth pursuing?

The Pantech Pursuit II ($50 with 2-year AT&T contract) is too little too late. If this was 2004, the Pursuit II would be one hot pursuit. But in 2011, the Pantech Pursuit II lurks beneath the shadows of one of the most formidable offers in the budget smartphone realm: the $50 iPhone 3GS.

With its laggy 230MHz processor, strange proprietary Brew MP operating system, measly 217MB of onboard storage, and lackluster, flash-less 2-megapixel camera, the Pantech Pursuit II was more of an aloof walk through the park than a high-speed car chase. I found the operating system to be beyond vexing, and applications to be expensive and lamely executed. For instance, Shazam could not even tag a Michael Jackson song. Gaming was cramped with the small keyboard, and the Internet browser was akin to Chinese water torture.

The Pantech Pursuit II did exhibit good call quality and its battery lasted quite some time on standby. As a basic calling and messaging phone, the Pursuit II was adequate. However, battery life dipped down to under 3 hours while making calls. The bottom line with the Pursuit II is that its not worth the chase. With the iPhone 3Gs right on its coattails, there's no hope for an AT&T phone of this nature in the year 2011.

  • I'm going to get this phone for the purpose you stated.

    "messaging and calling"

It's difficult to justify getting any non-data plan phone anymore, they're all over priced, low quality junk. It's just a way for the the phone companies to make you buy the nicer phones with data plans to make more money.

  • There is a dent in the bottom of the phone and u just put ur finger nail in their and there u go

  • i cant get the back of this stupid phone off!!! IT MAKES ME REALLY MAD SOMEONE TELL ME A VIDEO TO SHOW HOW CUZ I CANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I fucking hate this phone so much. My rage knows no bounds.

Battery life sucks ass. It doesn't even last me all day.

It never saves anything! If I set it to vibrate it stays silent, if I set it to vibrate and ring it will only vibrate. It refuses to save on anything else.

    The slide often doesn't work.

It vibrates for no reason sometimes.

It's takes 4 mofoing clicks to text one person. First click the message box, then click the name, then click the box, then click send. And even more cli

  • @ofeklivny i know its late, but this is not comedy central. its not here to entertain you, but to inform you on current phones and how they perform.

  • @iceBergll i think the pursuit 2, i had to make that choice yesterday. it also doesnt REQUIRE data, however no wifi either. i luv mine so far, and the pursuit fits in ur pocket easily, u get used to the keyboard quick and easily. im just tryna open the back so i can put in an SD. i know i answered kinda late though so which did ya pick?

  • @iceBergll get an iphone

  • lol to the video bombing

  • 2:37 "IMMA TREE!!!"

  • @strangetothemax Everyone is like that. xD If it isn't an iPhone it's horrible, to them. I have an HTC Inspire 4G, and a few of my friends that have iPhones say mine is much better than their iPhone. I personally think iOS 5 screwed the whole thing up. I have the white iPod Touch with iOS 5, and it's horrible. xD

  • Just picked up this phone today, and so far I love it! I didn't want to pay for the data plan so as far as a simple communicating phone goes, it works great!

  • @badboyblondiestar Ok thanks for a quick response!

  • you act like it should be a freakin smartphone! its not

  • @brianator97 You can type on the screen, but all you can use is the numeric type key-board. There is no full touch-screen qwerty key-board.

  • Can you type on the screen as well as the QWERTY keyboard?

  • Its good for my mother; simple-easy to use. Has favorite-icon for each you add on screen-neat. Although, its missing and up,down, right left arrow-not cool.

  • Yup..went to ATT store and the deductible we pay is $100 w $50 rebate(wow-thumb down). Went to Walmart, and deductible is a little under $50. But when I went to best buy- instant payment is $29.00! Best buy will ask you if you want there insurance...I like best buy insurance cause what ever they cant fix, they give you new one right there. $5.99 insurance at best buy w no replacement for lost phone, and $6.99 at ATT but will cover lost for $50 deductible.

  • Is the touch screen resistive or capacitive?

  • I got this phone when it first came out and i love it! The touchscreen isnt the best but wth it works. And dont go to the ATT store to purchase it. Best but mobile has it for $30.00

  • I have the Pantech and i dropped it on accident i was wondering how you fix it? it has a white bar running down the side.... if anyone knows how to fix it please write back!!!

  • are the apps like good?

  • I just got the phone and i love it so much!!!!

  • This phone is a good first cuz it has no needed data plan

  • all pantech phones must fucking die..

  • @XxEminentFatexX awesome
