Bloomington educator, Lora Batchelor, started the outdoor education program at Bradford Woods in 1956. Since that time over four generations of Monroe County fifth graders have called their time at Bradford Woods the greatest experience of their elementary education. Now after over 50 years, Monroe County fifth graders will no longer participate in the Outdoor Education Program at Bradford Woods. A new superintendent with no understanding of the history or value of the program has decided funding for Bradford Woods will be one of the first things cut in the current school-funding crisis. This video segment comes from a Bradford Woods orientation video I did 20 years ago. It includes Bradford Woods film footage from 1968 shot by fifth grade teacher Don Adair.
