i have never shot a real gun before, but, does a suppressor actually reduce recoil and bullet velocity?

@SPAZZY1912 Felt recoil yes if it's been properly made. Velocity, no, generally the silencer adds what is known as "freebore boost" and increases the FPS slightly.

pistols are definitely not louder than rifles, considering they have far less propellant.

@kingmigget The .45acp with a 5" barrel averages 157.0 dB. 5.56 NATO in a 16" barreled AR15 averages 154.5 dB. 30-06 in a 24" barreled hunting rifle averages 158 dB. .357mag averages 164.4 dB. An ordinary 12ga hunting shotgun with 26" barrel averages only 151.6 dB. Pistols are indeed louder than rifles, but don't just take my word for it - go do some research yourself and find out what is and isn't true. Unfortunately, reality doesn't have to make much sense...

I am going to be putting most of my money into one gun. a 1911, Just wondering what silencer is best for this gun
LegionWarrior 8 months ago
@LegionWarrior If I were silencing a 1911, I would most likely go with an Evo45 (if the price is right, say under $650), a TiRant 45, or an Osprey 45. Any of the three would leave you happy, but the latter two are better than the Evo45.
