Choice is a powerful tool to define ourselves and mold our lives -- but what do we know about the wants, motivations, biases, and influences that aid or hinder our endeavors?

In her new book THE ART OF CHOOSING, Columbia University professor Sheena Iyengar, a leading expert on choice, sets herself the task of helping us become better choosers. She asks fascinating questions: Is the desire for choice innate or created by culture? Why do we sometimes choose against our best interests? How much control do we really have over what we choose? Ultimately, she offers unexpected and profound answers, drawn from her award-winning, discipline-spanning research.

  • wowwww i watched her lecture just before really eye opening and she has such a great sense of humour ...so i really wanna read this book i am so lost in the dissions i make and looking back in regret ...sometimes i find my self so undeciseive so this should help! ..

  • @biglebonski SAME !!! LOL

  • The only reason I clicked on this was because the title spelled:

    "Sheena Iyengar discusses her boo..."

When it appeared on suggested videos... Hence the rest of the last word :/

  • @trade350 I don't agree. It is very different "taste" from "choice".

  • Sheena Iyengar discusses her boo... STOP TEASING ME!

  • the title on the main page read: Sheena Iyengar discusses her boo...

    I was disappointed again.

  • Sheena Lyengar share some interesting thoughts about 'choice paralysis' - we have choice and it leaves us confused, and sometimes paralyzed, by too much of it.

  • I agree with trade350

  • A man interviewed in this said, "When you have choices you must commit to one way or another, you know there's no going back. That's a tough choice to make." What a poor thought process and inflexible too! If you don't like your choice, just change it! Move somewhere else, do a house swap if you have to for a year or so. Don't like the camera you bought? Return it, sell it on Amazon, do it now don't wait you'll get a better price. It's your choice to change.

  • Interesting!
