You can't pull as hard against the wind if you are trying to keep the hydrofoil perpendicular I would imagine.
This would make it slower than a standard windsurfer.

That's right, but to turn he has to reduce the speed so that the board will touch the water

seems the other one catched him at the end, the hydrofoil is loosing speed with those bumps and wind holes

Next step : "SUPSF" (SUP+Sail+Foil) !
Lets dream of a board able to go SUP within 0 bf wind, then go sub-planing since 1 till 4bf, then go planing and foiling beyond...
That will be the cool water life, man !

looks like it s not that confortable and the other windsurf is "flying" even faster without a foil ! pretty spectacular though. fun for showing off

Except usually so far out from the shore that no one can see. From a distance (more than a few hunded yards) it looks like any other wind surfer.
